Muslim, Propagator of peace

A Muslim is a person who preaches peace and lives his life according to principles of Islam in harmony and peace. The word Muslim is also derived from the word Salam. The definition of Muslim in  a hadith is

  • A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hands, other Muslims are safe. Sahi bukhari, book of iman
  • As salam u alikum and Wa alikum us salam:

When a Muslim meets another Muslim, he greets him by saying As salam u laikum which means peace be upon you. And the other person replies in Wa alikum us salam which means peace be upon you too. As salam u alikum were the first words which were  taught to Prophet Adam(A. S) by Allah when He first created him.

Dar ul salam

The word dar ul salam is used in Quran for Jannah. Jannah is dar ul salam because it is free from grief, sorrows, sadness, deatg, envy and everything which is temporary. The first obligation to enter the dar ul salam is to follow the path of peace which is ofcourse Islam. But it does not mean that by being a muslim, one can enter the Jannah, one has to follow all the obligations of Islam properly. A Muslim cannot enter into dar ul salam until he is salam as well.

Salah a practice of harmony

Salah is obligatory for a Muslim and it propagates peace as well. The verses at the end of each Salah

السلام علیکم ورحمتہ اللہ و برکاتہ

Means

  • Sending peace on Angels

According to some scholars , the last verses of Salah are recited to send peace on karameen o takibeen( the angels who are recording each and every act of a person).

  • Sending peace on the fellows

According to some scholars, these words are used to send salam to the fellow worshippers.
