Surah Naas

Naas means mankind or manhood.

Translation of Surah Naas

“Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
The Sovereign of mankind.
The God of mankind,
From the evil of the retreating whisperer –
Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind –
From among the jinn and mankind.”

Explanation of Surah Naas

This Surah was revealed with Surah Falaq for a special purpose; to make our beloved Prophet (P.B.U.H) free of magic spell. The word “Qul” shows the weakness of a man he is announcing in front of ALLAH and everyone else. This Surah teaches man about how to ask for safety from the satan, evil powers like jinns and mankind.
The word “Waswasil” means the whispering; the doubts that satan puts in one’s mind several times a day. So one is asking for the safety and protection from these whisperings. Besides Satan, one is living with are people which are more likely to influence his life in any way. The behaviors of them forces his mind to act like them, so in this Surah one asks for the safety from the those waswasa and doubts. These doubts remains in one’s mind for a long time and indirectly effect them so to seek shelter from thee waswasa is more important than any other outer evil power.

Revelation of Surah Naas

This is 114 surah of Quran with inly six verses. It is last surah of Quran. It is a Makki Surah due to it’s revelation in Makkah.

Aim of Surah Naas

Surah Naas was revealed as an invocation to ask for protection from the inner evils and the evil suggestion from the people around you. In this Surah, Allah is called thrice by his three names which means that a person asks for protection from ones inner evils more than anything. The unseen evils are dangerous but not more than ones inner evils and the people around you.
In addition to the inner evils and the doubts of the people around one, this Surah also focuses on seeking protection from misdeeds of jinn’s and doubts and whispers of Satan.

In addition to the inner evils and the doubts of the people around one, seeking protection from misdeeds of jinn’s and doubts and whispers of Satan is also recommended in this Surah.
